BREAKING: Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine approved by FDA for emergency use

The day is here, Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine has been approved by the FDA for emergency use in the US. The approval was all but official yesterday after a key advisory panel recommended the vaccine be approved.

“We likely will see shots in the arm by the very early part of next week, I would hope Monday or Tuesday,” Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said on the “Today” show on Friday morning.

With 2 highly effective vaccines making their way to the American public, we really may be rounding the curve towards the end of the pandemic. The government plans to distribute about 5.9 million doses of the vaccine next week. In addition, 2.9 doses of Pfizer’s vaccine were cleared for shipment this week.

“With the availability of two vaccines now for the prevention of COVID-19, the FDA has taken another crucial step in the fight against this global pandemic that is causing vast numbers of hospitalizations and deaths in the United States each day,” FDA Commissioner Dr. Stephen Hahn said in a statement.
