A search and rescue mission is underway on the USS Theodore Roosevelt after reports came in about a sailor who may have gone overboard on Thursday.
The sailor was also unaccounted for during a command-wide role call, the navy confirmed.
The rescue efforts began at around 7:30 Thursday morning after a lookout spotted what they believed to be a person in the water.
It has been reported that 3 search and rescue helicopters and a Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat were launched to assist in the search. The Navy also said that the search will continue through Thursday.
No further information about the search has been released at this time.
Our thoughts are with the missing Navy sailor, and we hope he is found quickly and unharmed.
