Travelers to Los Angeles Now Required to sign Quarantine Forum upon Arrival

As coronavirus cases continue to increase and the holiday season is now upon us, the city of Los Angeles has decided to enact a plan involving a quarantine form for those entering the city, especially by air and train travel.

According to Mayor Eric Garcetti, people flying into Los Angeles International Airport and Van Nuys Airport, as well as those arriving at Union Station, will be required to fill out a form.

“If there’s any way you can avoid travel, cancel those plans,” Garcetti said. “Emergencies and essential work travel should be the only excuse that we get on a plane anywhere right now.”

For persons 16 and older, the form acknowledges that travelers from outside the state are aware of and comprehend California’s travel advisory, which states that individuals visiting or returning should practice self-quarantine for 14 days.

Submission is required before or upon arrival and the form can be accessed at travel.lacity.org. Travelers who don’t complete the form are subject to a $500 fine.

This news comes as LA Public Health Director Dr. Barbara Ferrer said the city is facing “the most alarming metrics we have ever seen.” Los Angeles also took the step of banning all in-person dining earlier this week.
