San Diego’s own SDCCU Stadium, previously home to the Chargers, Padres, and Aztecs, is in the process of demolition for an exciting new structure, paid for by the new owner, San Diego State University.
Community members and supporters of our local sports teams can take advantage of this unique opportunity to buy a piece of the many memories, moments, and events that took in the stadium. A plethora of items are being sold and auctioned including seats, signage, and stadium maintenance equipment.
Those wanting to purchase stadium seats as memorabilia can do so starting next month. Availablity will open to the general public on December 1 at 9 a.m. SDSU did disclaim that those interested are required to buy two seats as-is, and there is a limit of two pairs (four in total). Plates and brackets are not included but can be ordered through Stadium Seat Depot.
Pick-up is the only option and shipping is not available. More details about obtaining the seats will arrive via e-mail post-purchase.
Profits yielded from seat sales will be put towards the Aztec Stadium Project.
Other pieces and assets from the stadium will be a part of an online auction managed by Heritage Global Partners. All 645 lots have previews on their website with the corresponding starting bid prices, ranging between $25 and $50. There is a 7.5% sales tax as well as a buyer’s premium of 18%.
Registration and approval are necessary in order to bid in the auction.
The SDCCU Stadium will be transformed into SDSU’s Mission Valley site, which will consist of a new multi-purpose stadium, additional student housing, retail shops, and innovation space.
