An investigation is underway after a pedestrian was fatally struck by an Amtrak train in Carlsbad last night.
The incident was reported around 7:15 pm on Thursday. According to Monica De La Torre Chavez, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Deputy, the crash occurred north of the Carlsbad Village Station, off State Street and Grand Avenue.
Unfortunately, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s name has not been released and details are very scarce at this time.

All trains were delayed for about two hours following the incident.
