Tim Doughtery is running for Poway Unified School District Area A, and is endorsed by the Republican Party of San Diego County.
D0ughtery grew up in Southern New Jersey in a family of teachers, coaches, and business owners. He has experience as a student, teacher, leader, and most importantly, a parent, making him a perfect candidate for the PUSD Board.
During his time on the East Coast, Tim attended Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and studied Mechanical Engineering. As someone who has a passion for bringing positivity to their community as well as sharing his knowledge with others, Doughtery worked as a substitute teacher of Technology at Haddonfield Middle School in New Jersey and later coached the Torrey Pines youth wrestling team in San Diego. To add on to his teaching experience, Doughtery worked as a professor of Manufacturing Process at the University of San Diego, while also furthering his studies at Lehigh University in their Healthcare Systems Engineering Program.
Currently, Tim works as a Senior Director of Supply Chain for a local furniture retailer and manages a design project each year for a group of senior industrial engineers at the furniture retailer. Doughtery is not a politician, he is a concerned parent of two daughters that wants to bring positive change to the school system and will do so if elected.
Some issues that D0ughtery is determined to solve are reopening and post-COVID learning, fixing the budget and improving funding, and maximizing facilities and land use. Tim’s plans for solving these problems include addressing spending allocation, creating partnerships with businesses and educational institutions, and finding creative solutions.
The fact of the matter is that things are constantly changing and the way children are educated has been different every single month of this year. It’s crucial to Doughtery that we are able to be prepared and stay ahead of the issue at all times. Tim is on a mission to represent the best interest of the PUSD schools by creating the best programs, hiring and retaining the best teachers, and creating a better curriculum.
Although the PUSD community is very large, Tim will make sure to utilize all resources possible by creating engagement with local businesses, universities, parents, and alumni with the benefit of the students being the number one priority in these engagements. With his experience in engineering and operations using multi-disciplinary ideas, D0ughtery will push for data-driven improvements to PUSD schools. With the busy times that families are going through, leading with transparency, clarity, and accessibility is a top priority, and Doughtery guarantees this with the use of technologies like Zoom and Slack to hold town halls and answer questions.
Tim Doughtery has been endorsed by multiple associations and political figures in San Diego including State Assembly candidate June Cutter, San Diego City Council candidate Joe Leventhal, the California Women’s Leadership Association, and the Lincoln Club of San Diego County.
