Censorship Does Not Belong in America

“The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power, pure power.”

-George Orwell, 1984

Anyone who has read George Orwell’s 1984 can make multiple frightening connections from this fictional novel to the present day. In a nation that was meant by the Founding Fathers to champion freedom, radical leftists, progressives, and anarchists look at our great founders as hacks.

By making this horrendous and inaccurate claim, they reach out to young Americans who do not know any better about American history, coercing them to believe in radical leftist ideology. The main focus of the radical left now is to overthrow the so called “system,” where people have the freedom to work however hard they want at whatever job they want and are guaranteed equal opportunity, but not equal outcome. Why do we see this happening now more than ever? Because The Party seeks power over the benefit of the people.

Recent news came out that Hunter Biden, the son of former Vice President and Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden, had emails on his laptop and information regarding his father’s ties with Ukrainian energy exploration company, Burisma, who wanted to use the Biden name to receive more recognition. In return, they agreed to pay Hunter Biden millions of dollars for a job he had no qualifications for—with Joe Biden receiving some of this money. One would see this as front page news exposing the corruption in the Biden family.

Unfortunately, but unsurprisingly, The Party decided to censor this story and anyone who tried to bring light to it. Social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook immediately censored all tweets and posts that included information on the story.

The magnitude of this situation is serious and it has been going on for years. Although it could be argued that the clear censorship brought more viewers and visibility to the Biden scandal, the real problem is the fact that the big tech giants have the power to silence negative stories for their preferred candidate and political party. This unfair treatment towards President Trump and many Republican officials alike has been going on for years and has no signs of stopping. And the question is, what is the limit? If it comes to the Biden-Harris campaign winning the election, will we ever hear their decisions or plans receive criticism?

The censorship of conservative ideas can be seen in multiple public settings. College campuses, academia, and entertainment being just a few examples. Countless stories of people losing their jobs, getting “cancelled,” or even being assaulted happen everyday, all because they support conservatism. America is not a nation of censorship. America is a nation where an individual can be an individual, and have their own set of ideals in which they orient their day-to-day lives. But as of now, those freedoms, especially for conservatives, are being taken away.

The worst part is that people think they are “revolutionaries” for bringing up radical leftist ideas, as if they’re somehow rebelling against “the system.” The problem with this is that one cannot call themselves a revolutionary when they have all of the media and big corporations on their side, parroting everything they say.

This election will determine whether Americans want to continue to accept the idea of political differences by voting Republican, or completely ostracize those who disagree with a popular narrative by voting Democrat. As Abraham Lincoln once said, “Those who deny freedom to others, deserve it not for themselves.”
