Momentum continues to build behind Leventhal’s bid for the open District 5 seat
(San Diego, CA) – The Republican Party of San Diego County last night announced their endorsement of Joe Leventhal for San Diego City Council, District 5 by its elected Central Committee members.
“Joe has proven himself to be a hardworking, effective candidate,” said Tony Krvaric, Chairman of the Republican Party of San Diego County. “I am confident that he will be an advocate for San Diego’s taxpayers by advancing strong fiscal reform and accountability on the City Council. I urge my fellow Republicans to join me in supporting Joe Leventhal for City Council.”
Leventhal’s campaign to succeed term-limited Councilman Mark Kersey for the District 5 seat has already gained widespread community support. Leventhal reports a hefty fundraising haul of over $120,000 raised in the first five weeks of his campaign and several key community endorsements that continue to drive the campaign’s momentum.
“The endorsement of the Republican Party of San Diego County is an important milestone for our campaign,” said Joe Leventhal. “This endorsement affirms that our message of common-sense governance is building momentum in all corners of the district.”
Joe has already been endorsed by San Diego County Supervisor Jim Desmond, San Diego County Supervisor Dianne Jacob, San Diego County Board of Education Chair Mark Powell, homeless advocate Father Joe Carroll, the San Diego Asian Americans for Equality, retired San Diego Police Chief Shelley Zimmerman, and the Associated Builders and Contractors of San Diego, among others.
Once elected to the San Diego City Council, Joe will prioritize solutions to reduce homelessness, enhance public safety, and expand road repairs. Joe believes that bold, collaborative leadership, as he’s demonstrated throughout his life, is the best way to approach San Diego’s persistent challenges.
The 5th District includes the communities of Black Mountain Ranch, Carmel Mountain Ranch, Miramar Ranch North, Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Encantada, Rancho Peñasquitos, Sabre Springs, San Pasqual, Scripps Miramar Ranch and Torrey Highlands. The District’s registration is nearly evenly split between Republicans, Independents, and Democrats. Approximately 13% of registered voters in District 5 are Asian Americans.
