The Kiwanis Club of Santee Brings Special Olympics to Santee

The Kiwanis Club of Santee has partnered with Special Olympics Southern California to bring the Southern California Games back to Santee. On May 20th, 2023 over 700 athletes from all over southern California are expected to compete at West Hills High School in athletics, basketball, flag football, swimming and bocce. Kiwanis is assembling over 500 volunteers to make this a successful event for the athletes. To register as a volunteer, log into our volunteer database at: https://bit.ly/3kVwmPJ

We have a new partnership with “The Kingdom of Terre Neuve” that will allow us to bring a Renaissance Experience to Santee. On March 25, from 10am to 5pm, the open lot in front of the Santee YMCA will transform to a time of royal courts, jousts, bards, and other aspects of medieval life for the entertainment of all. This is a free event.

April 29th has been set for the annual Junior Olympics. From 7:30am to 2pm, 4th through 8th grade athletes will descend on the fields of Santana High School to compete. This is always a well attended event.

With Momentum Tutoring and the Santee Chamber of Commerce, in May we will begin engaging interested local business mentors to work with young entrepreneurs and their families to educate youth on business principles as they develop their own local and internet businesses and put them on display at a Community Youth Business Fair in August.

This takes us through May. But we’re not done there. Since 1971, the Kiwanis Club of Santee has been supporting programs and activities aimed at improving the lives of our youth and those in need in our community.

Our programs include:

– Kiwanis Key Clubs at both Santana and West Hills High Schools
– Supporting all nine Santee School District PTSA’s
– Granting $4000.00 in scholarships to graduating Santee Seniors
– Hope of America Awards for promoted eighth grade students
– An annual dinner/awards event recognizing our Law Enforcement Officers
– Supporting the City of Santee with Arbor Day festivities
– Children’s Fishing Derby
– Easter Sunrise Service
– Junior Olympics
