For Immediate Release
April 14, 2022
Amy Reichert, co-founder of ReOpen San Diego and candidate for San Diego County Board of Supervisors District 4, has received the official endorsement of the San Miguel Fire and Rescue, Local 1434.
San Diegans know Amy as the fearless community leader who fought back against harmful vaccine mandates that the County of San Diego put into place last year. First responders across the county, including our brave firefighters, police officers, and lifeguards, were told that if they did not get the COVID19 vaccine, they would face termination.
Amy came alongside San Diego’s frontline heroes when they needed their voices heard. She hosted Protecting Our Protectors rallies and set up press conferences to show frontline workers that the community supports them and she will fight for them, even in tough times.
Just a few weeks ago, Nathan Fletcher, the person responsible for these harmful mandates against San Diego’s beloved first responders, thought he could try to improve his optics on the issue by posing with firefighters at the San Miguel Fire Station in Spring Valley and posting the photos on his Instagram account.
Amy was actually invited to go meet with the firefighters herself- not to use them for a photo-op, but to actually talk with them about the challenges they are currently facing.
At the meeting, firefighters shared how they want local control and better resources for their departments to protect San Diegans- they also shared how they feel their concerns have not been heard by the County of San Diego.
San Miguel Fire and Rescue is a large department and the services they provide extend over 50 square miles. Their department serves the communities of Bostonia, Casa de Oro, Crest, Grossmont/Mt. Helix, La Presa, Rancho San Diego, Spring Valley and the unincorporated areas of El Cajon and La Mesa.
The firefighters of San Miguel Fire and Rescue have spoken! They proudly give their full support to Amy Reichert for San Diego County Supervisor.
Amy is grateful that she has been able to actively support all of the incredible first responders in this county. San Diego’s frontline heroes know that Amy will always put people before politics.
