Black Lives Matter Global Network Under Investigation by California, Could Lose Tax-Exempt Status

The Black Lives Matter Global Network has cost the American people billions of dollars in damage due to their belief that only by burning down the system can they achieve racial justice. A system, mind you, that abolished slavery, gave both black people and women the right to vote, and repealed all discriminatory policies against minorities. But now karma has come back to bite BLM as they have to pay their dues, which comes from the most unlikely sources.

California Attorney General Rob Bonta published a letter explaining that BLM could lose its tax-exempt status since they have not provided any financial records to the state. Bonta also stated that BLM is no longer in good standing with The Registry of Charitable Trusts. The letter reads, “An organization that is delinquent, suspended or revoked is not in good standing and is prohibited from engaging in conduct for which registration is required, including soliciting or disbursing charitable funds.”

The group would need to pay a renewal fee and complete an IRS 990 form that details their financial activity. However, if BLM withholds their economic action, Bonta will hold individual BLM leaders personally responsible. “Charitable assets cannot be used to pay these avoidable costs. Accordingly, directors, trustees, officers and return preparers responsible for failure to timely file the above-described report(s) are personally liable for payment of all penalties, interest and other costs incurred to restore exempt status.” It is unclear who will be responsible for the fees or the punishments. Founder Patrisse Cullors stepped down from the organization last year and she currently has no successor to her position. Cullors came under fire last year after it was revealed she had a number of real estate investments in wealthy areas of Los Angeles, Atlanta, and the Bahamas.

But why is deep-blue California going after BLM, an organization that supports our state’s far-left policies? It’s because the American people, surprisingly, don’t like it when people steal their stuff. And if BLM can tie themselves to California lawmakers (i.e., Democrats), this will damage any prospects that certain politicians have. Especially in urban areas like LA or San Francisco, where progressives have decriminalized petty theft, these are the places where Republicans can genuinely make a comeback.
