The Mayor Steve Vaus for Supervisor campaign announced having raised $232,000, an amount that far exceeded the campaign’s fundraising goal. The total was raised in three and a half months of active fundraising during the period that closed on June 30.
“I am grateful to the hundreds of San Diego County residents who contributed to my campaign for Supervisor,” said Mayor Steve Vaus. “Their financial support will make it possible for me to continue to work for balanced budgets, safer neighborhoods and freeways and highways with reduced congestion, Vaus continued.”
The Vaus for Supervisor campaign received contributions from 454 individuals, 94% of whom live in San Diego County. The final report, detailing all contributions and expenditures, will be filed later this week.
Mayor Steve Vaus is a candidate for Supervisor District 2, which is currently represented by Dianne Jacob, whose final term on the Board expires in 2020. Vaus is endorsed by Supervisor Jacob, Sheriff Bill Gore, Supervisor Jim Desmond, Supervisor Kristin Gaspar, Supervisor Greg Cox, San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer, La Mesa Mayor Mark Arapostathis, El Cajon Mayor Bill Wells and numerous East County and San Diego elected officials.
Organizations supporting Mayor Vaus include the Deputy Sheriffs’ Association of San Diego County, the San Diego County Deputy District Attorneys Association, Fraternal Order of Police – San Diego, San Diegans Against Crime, Associated General Contractors (AGC), Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) and the Lincoln Club of San Diego County.
Steve Vaus has been the Mayor of Poway since 2014 and was a member of the Poway City Council for two years before that. Mayor Vaus also has decades of executive experience. He owns a Poway production company which has served clients such as Cox Communications, Barona Resort, the U.S. Navy, and others.
Steve and his wife Corrie, an award-winning journalist and video producer, have lived in Poway for 26 years. The Vaus’ have four children and five grandsons.
