Through the mismanagement of funds and blatant disrespect of his constituents, Governor Gavin Newsom is currently in hot water with the demand for a statewide poll regarding his recall for the November 2020 election ballot. Dr. James Veltmyer of La Jolla has called for the recall of the former mayor and lieutenant governor claiming he “has violated the trust of California residents.”
On social media, Dr. Veltmyer cited a few principal reasons why Newsom should be removed from office. “He seeks to make California taxpayers pay for the health care of criminal lawbreakers who entered our nation illegally at a starting cost of over $100 million,” Veltmeyer said. “This policy will serve as a magnet to attract thousands more illegal immigrants to California, which will lead to skyrocketing costs and additional burdens on physicians and hospitals.”
Dr. Veltmeyer noted how Newsom plans to add more than $2 billion in taxes on the citizens of California. Online petitions, including one by Joshua Lindsay, have reached nearly 42,000 signatures seeking a Newsom recall for months.
Dr. Veltmeyer was named a Physician of Excellence by the San Diego County Medical Society in 2012, 2014, 2016, and 2017. He said in another email that he’d speak on the Newsom recall drive at a meeting with the Chula Vista Tea Party.
Besides the aforementioned reasons, Veltmeyer also claims Newsom defied his constituents with his actions regarding capital punishment and “shifting the burden of PG&E’s mismanagement of the state’s wildfires to ratepayers.”
