With Thanksgiving just one week away, many American families are starting to prepare for their feast. But this year, the Thanksgiving dinner table might have a lot less on it as prices continue to rise because of inflation and the continuing supply chain crisis. These crises lay solely at the feet of the Democrats as they have been silent on both issues and have failed to address them.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics show that Thanksgiving Turkey rose 18% from last year. One of the biggest rises was in green beans, which rose 39% compared to last year. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 6.2% year over year in October according to the Labor Department, the highest annual gain since November 1990. Energy prices are up 30% since last year. Wyoming Senator John Barrasso said, “With regard to inflation, this will be the most expensive Thanksgiving for the American people in the history of the country”. In a press conference with fellow Republicans, Arkansas Senator John Boozman, who is the top Republican on the Senate Agriculture Committee, blamed the Democrats for failing to address the issues, “The problem is nothing’s being done. No pathway is set by Democrats in Congress.” Boozman also criticized the decision to end the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline. The pipeline was ended on day one of the Biden administration and many point to that decision as the reason for high energy prices.
The Democrats are still living in denial on these issues, claiming that passing the Build Back Better Agenda will solve all of our problems. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said, “If you want to fight inflation, if you want to lower costs and grow the economy, support Build Back Better.” Schumer should probably go back to Econ 101 because if you want to alleviate the problems we face, just throwing money at our problems won’t solve much.
