Interim registrar Cynthia Paes has been promoted to become the new Registrar of Voters for San Diego County. Paes had been serving as interim registrar since January of this year, when she took the place of Michael Vu who was promoted to the position of assistant chief administrative officer of the county.
Already Paes has led her team through four elections, including the September recall election. Paes also launched a number of new initiatives after the county adopted the Voters Choice Act. She has more than thirty elections under her belt and will continue the County’s excellent record of administering fair, accurate, accessible, transparent and secure elections with the highest level of care and integrity,” said Chief Administrative Officer Helen Robbins-Meyer.
Paes’ career with the county started in 2002 when she started working in the Health and Human Services Department. In 2011, she took the position of Chief Deputy of the Election Services Division. Two years later, she was promoted to Assistant Registrar of Voters.
We would like to congratulate Cynthia on her new position that is well deserved. We wish Cynthia the best in her new position and we know that she will do a great job.
