Winter is coming, and with that comes increased power for homes across the nation. But this year is already shaping up to be one of the most expensive holiday seasons due to the shipping bottlenecks. And because the Biden administration can’t leave well enough alone, it is considering adding another expense the American people will have to pay for.
President Houseplant has floated shutting down Line 5, a pipeline that brings crude oil and other petroleum from Canada into Michigan. Biden’s Secretary of Energy, Jennifer Granholm, brushed off criticism regarding this decision, simply saying that heating prices would rise either way. Unfortunately for them, not everyone was convinced.
The director of environmental policy for Mackinac Center for Public Policy, Jason Hayes, stated that “They’re planning to power an industrial nation like the United States on solar panels and wind turbines.” Hayes mentioned how these renewable energy sources still require oil and other forms of fossil fuels for power. Not only that, but we could see another situation like the Texas power grid failure if politicians push these alternative energy solutions. Congressman Bob Latta of Ohio criticized the Biden admin plan saying, ” As we enter the winter months and temperatures drop across the Midwest, the termination of Line 5 will undoubtedly further exacerbate shortages and price increases in home heating fuels like natural gas and propane at a time when Americans are already facing rapidly rising energy prices, steep home heating costs, global supply shortages, and skyrocketing gas prices.”
Sadly, Joe Biden and the radical Democrats will inevitably shut down Line 5 just like they did with the Keystone XL pipeline for a straightforward reason: to appease the woke. Biden knows that he’s not in charge of his party, and so the best solution for him is to run whole-heartedly to the Left in hopes that moderates like Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema will follow him. But eventually, Biden’s radicalism will come back to haunt him when he loses Congress next year and his job in 2024.
