It’s that time of year again when families gear up for the holidays: kids prepare their Christmas lists as parents frantically search for their children’s’ presents before December 25 as discounts soar. But this year, as the shipping bottlenecks only get worse, Santa may need more time to put all our gifts under the Christmas trees for all the nice kids, except for one journalist who’s been very naughty this year.
Washington Post columnist Micheline Maynard ripped Americans as “spoiled” for expecting packages to arrive on time during the shipping delays, “American consumers, their expectations pampered and catered to for decades, are not accustomed to inconvenience.” Her opinion piece in the Washington Post was titled, “Don’t rant about short-staffed stores and supply chain woes. Try to lower expectations.” She also encouraged us to lower our expectations in regards to short-staffed stores and businesses rather than taking our frustrations out on delivery workers while taking her frustrations out on the public.
If you thought this piece couldn’t get any worse, then you’re in for a real shock. Maynard soon realizes the error of calling the American people spoiled and telling us to lower our expectations, not because she has any common sense (she doesn’t), but because this impacts her as well. Maynard continues saying that the “paper shortages, worker shortages and the traffic jams at shipping ports” are “endangering holiday books sales,” as her new book is now on hold.
Naturally, the Twitter mob railed against her for attacking the character of Americans. Some, like Rep Dan Bishop (R-NC), stated that “We went from “Build Back Better” to “lower your expectations” in less than a year #EmptyShelvesJoe.” Former Trump Chief of Staff and North Carolina Congressman Mark Meadows tweeted, ““Try to lower your expectations” is becoming the theme of Joe Biden’s America”. These new mantras are the latest messages from the Biden administration as President Biden has continuously underwhelmed America with his poor performance as President. From his Afghanistan withdrawal to bullying his party, Joe Biden has lost the people’s trust very earlier into his term. With November 2022 drawing closer, all signs point towards a new Republican revival.
