Todd Gloria Travels To DC Pursuing Help From Biden Admin

San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria traveled to Washington D.C. to meet with White House officials such as Housing and Urban Development Secretary Marcia Fudge and Interim Executive Director of the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness Anthony Love. On top of that, he also spoke with California senators Dianne Feinstein and Alex Padilla.

“I’m looking forward to meeting with the Biden-Harris Administration as well as our Congressional leaders to advocate for solutions to the challenges we face as a city,” Gloria said before his visit. His priorities include:

  • Alleviating the housing and homelessness crises.

  • Rolling back travel restrictions.

  • Curbing the Tijuana River Valley pollution as a result of increased migrants at the border.

It’s common for state and local officials to meet with the higher-ups about problems plaguing specific areas in the country. After all, our system of federalism encourages national and local leaders to work together to combat obstacles. But in the same statement above, Gloria said this: “I will be pushing to advance these priorities with our federal partners as part of the Infrastructure and Jobs Act as well as the Build Back Better Act.”

This suggests that Gloria is relying wholeheartedly on the Biden administration’s policies to bail him out instead of working himself to make San Diego great again. Not only that, but this also illustrates the Democrats’ infatuation with top-down control. We’ve seen them attempt to federalize election laws, mandate Covid-19 masks, and vaccines, and let illegal immigrants run wild towards our great nation. Gloria’s trip to D.C. is just the latest example of how democracy dies as the government grows.
