On Thursday, the House of Representatives voted 420-9 in favor of a $1 billion measure to refund Israel’s Iron Dome defense system. The spending bill helps Israel replenish their missile interceptors after Hamas attacked them in May. While this may seem like a win for the Jewish state, this bill further illustrated the growing divide between old school Democrats and the new emerging progressive wing of the party.
The opposition consisted of eight Democratic congress members, including Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, Ayanna Pressley, Cori Bush, Andre Carson, Marie Newman, Raul Grijalva, and Chuy Garcia. The other no vote came from Republican Thomas Massie. However, he has voted against every major spending bill, so it’s unfair to characterize him as anti-Israel or anti-semitic. The others, however, love government spending, so it’s no surprise that anti-semitic charges are brought upon them.
Progressives in the House have already pushed democratic House leaders to remove Iron Dome funding from an emergency spending bill (or threaten to shut down the government) and a border security spending bill.
On top of that, Rashida Tlaib had a meltdown on the House floor, saying, “I will not support any effort to enable war crimes and human rights abuses and violence. We cannot be talking only about Israelis’ need for safety at a time when Palestinians are living under a violent apartheid system and are dying from what Human Rights Watch has said are war crimes.”
The truth is that Palestinians live under an apartheid system caused by the terrorist group Hamas. Hamas, led by Holocaust denier Mahmoud Abbas, calls for the destruction of the Jewish state of Israel and the murder of all Jews worldwide. Yet Tlaib refuses to condemn these genocidal barbarians, which begs the question: what exactly differentiates her from the Nazis here?
Her words were so abhorrent that Democrat Ted Deutch of Florida slammed the Anti-Semite Tlaib. Deutch exploded at her, explaining how reprehensible it is for “one of my colleagues to stand on the floor of the House of Representatives and label the Jewish democratic state of Israel an apartheid state. To falsely characterize the state of Israel is consistent with those who advocate for the dismantling of the one Jewish state in the world. When there is no place on the map for one Jewish state, that’s antisemitism, and I reject that.” His condemnation comes three years late, but it’s always good when the Left eats itself.
Most shocking was AOC’s decision to switch her vote on the bill. She cried her bitter crocodile tears when she changed her vote from no to present. Why the sudden change of heart. First of all, that sentence assumes she has a heart in the first place. Second of all, she’s poised to run for the Senate and primary Chuck Schumer. The problem is that there’s a lot of Jewish people in New York state. Although they vote overwhelmingly with the Democrats, they still care about Israel and despise the congresswoman’s remarks regarding the eternal Jewish nation. It’s amusing how progressive label us the Nazi party while spewing all sorts of Jew-hatred. You used to yell at us that hate has consequences, and now it’s your turn, hypocrites.
