It is very problematic when the general public believes that the high court has become the most dangerous branch of government. Clarence Tomas spoke about this ongoing concern at Notre Dame, where he gave a rare public address. As of recently
Thomas said that “the court was thought to be the least dangerous branch, and we may have become the most dangerous. And I think that is problematic.” As of recently, Democrat politicians and media outlets have been questioning the supreme court and its decisions. Most notably, the Democrats’ effort to gain additional seats in the supreme court.
Thomas struck back at these leftist critics, saying that the country’s elected leaders “should not allow others to manipulate our institutions when we don’t get the outcome that we like.” He made it clear that media outlets portray a narrative that a justice will rule with aligns with their personal beliefs. However, this is quite the opposite, the task for any judge is to set aside personal views and examine without bias. The message left-wing media outlets are promoting is dangerous because they simultaneously jeopardize any faith in the legal institutions.
Thomas recently said to Washington Post: ‘I think the media makes it sound as though you are just always going right to your personal preference. So if they think you are antiabortion or something personally, they think that’s the way you always will come out. They think you’re for this or for that. They think you become like a politician.”
Democrats politicizing the Supreme Court is a dangerous attack on the most important legal institution in America. Politicians should be criticized when challenging the integrity of one of the most integral units of our governing body. Unfortunately, this is another example of how the left won’t stop at anything to push their radical agenda.
