White House Pulls Biden’s ATF Nominee, David Chipman

On Monday, Biden and his administration have officially pulled their nomination of David Chipman to be director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF). The reasoning for the administration’s unsuccessful nomination was that they could not gather enough support amongst fellow Democrats.

Chipman is a man who tries to lie to the public to further his agenda. Many House legislators wrote a letter to Senate Majority leader Chuck Schumer and Senate Minority leader Mitch McConnell opposing Chipman’s nomination. Many reported that Chipman’s “beliefs and hostile attitude toward the rights of gun owners are well known.”

In the letter written by House members, they pointed out several instances in which Biden’s nominee was actually against the 2nd amendment rights, making it clear that most of the decisions he would have made in position would have been biased.

According to the letter, Chipman favored subjecting all AR-15s and semi-automatic rifles to regulation in October of 2018. “As a former agent of the ATF, Chipman knows all too well that such action would effectively ban the most popular rifle in America as well as most other items regulated under the National Firearms Act,” the letter continued.

“Legal firearm ownership and integrity go hand-in-hand, and President Biden should not nominate anyone to lead the ATF who has repeatedly lied to further their gun control agenda,” said the letter. It continued by highlighting that as of 2019, Chipman was caught misleading the public on basic firearm facts regarding ownership. When he was discussing firearms suppressors, he claimed that the effect the suppressor has “takes the edge out of the tone… this is how I would describe it: it makes a gun sort of sound like a nail gun.” However, this is known to be false.

The letter concluded by claiming that David Chipman will jeopardize America’s constitutional rights and do anything he can to further his agenda.
