Hundreds Of CA Recall Ballots Discovered In Felon’s Car

On August 16th, the police of Torrance responded to a call regarding a man passed out in a vehicle outside of a 7-Eleven parking lot. The police not only discovered a loaded gun and drugs in his possession but, shockingly, hundreds of ballots for the California gubernatorial recall election as well.

The officers involved in the investigation have since identified the exact items found: Xanax pills, methamphetamine, a scale, several driver’s licenses and credit cards in other people’s names, and over 300 ballots. Police have indicated that those ballots will return to their rightful owners once the investigation is complete. They also clarified that this is an isolated incident, meaning the perpetrator is not connected to any other theft regarding election ballots.

It is not clear how those bundled-up ballots ended up in the man’s vehicle or what his intentions were with the ballots. However, the police involved stated that the incident is being investigated with the partnership of the U.S. Postal Service and the LA County District Attorney Public Integrity Unit.

The man has been arrested, facing several weapons, narcotics, and forgery charges. Police have not released his name.

With Newsom’s recall election held on September 14th, just a couple of weeks away, ballots have been sent out to Californians throughout the state. With that said, those opposed to the recall have been working extremely hard to make this election seem one-sided. However, over 2 million Californians of all parties signed the petition to recall Newsom. Any thievery or forgery this time around will not be tolerated.
