Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) continues her reign of terror by creating a special commission to investigate the cause of the January 6 storming of the Capitol Building. January 6 was, of course, a tragedy and scary reminder of the many forms American extremism can take on. And yet, Pelosi and her Democratic colleagues have weaponized the special commission against the right with her latest stunt.
Upon House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) announcing his picks for the committee, the speaker rejected two nominees, Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Jim Banks (R-IN). Speaker Pelosi explained that because Reps. Banks and Jordan objected to the 2020 election results, they are unfit to serve on the special committee. In a statement, she said, “With respect for the integrity of the investigation, with an insistence on the truth and with concern about statements made and actions taken by these Members, I must reject the recommendations of Representatives Banks and Jordan to the Select Committee.”
Leader McCarthy responded by calling out Pelosi for her corrupt abuse of power by denying Jim Jordan and Jordan Banks their places on the January 6 Committee. In turn, McCarthy announced that House Republicans would launch their investigation as to why there were not enough capitol police in service on that day. Chairman of the special committee, Bernie Thompson (D-MS), shot back at the Republicans by urging the Democrats to stay on course and get to the root cause of the riots. This seems like a reasonable goal for the Democrats.
But here’s the thing, Democrats need January 6 in the public’s mind because they know that 2022 will be a referendum on Biden and his radical policies. So the Dems keep prolonging January 6 to gain seats in the House and the Senate, and more importantly, make the midterms a referendum on Trump. Of course, this plays into a larger narrative that Democrats would rather bash Trump than rely on their policies to save themselves, moving from liberal values into just anti-right.
