Supreme Court to Hear Case Overturning Roe v. Wade

Written by Andrew Morris

The Supreme Court on Monday decided they would hear the Mississippi case Dobbs V. Jackson Women’s Health Organization which would ban 15-week abortions in the state. This would effectively set the precedent which would pave the way for Roe V. Wade to be overturned throughout the United States.

The court is split 6-3 favoring conservatives, this also being the first case of Justice Amy Coney Barrett, who was appointed by former President Trump after the death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg last September.

Pro-choice advocates are quaking in their boots as “Alarm bells are ringing loudly about the threat to reproductive rights,” said Nancy Northup from the Center for Reproductive Rights, following the trial announcement.

The case, if affirmed, would overthrow the 15-week abortion precedent upheld since 1973 with the initial passing of Roe v Wade.

The possibility of Roe V. Wade being overturned is especially promising since Dobbs V. Jackson was originally struck down by the lower courts. At least four justices were required to call the case to the Supreme Court after being struck down in a lower court, meaning the precedent of Roe V. Wade is only one vote shy of being struck down and overturned.

The conservative majority court has the chance to send the far left packing when this case is voted on. With regulations regarding abortions are seemingly disappearing before our eyes, pro-life advocates are praying that the courts make the sane decision to overturn the dangerous precedent set by Roe V. Wade.

The Dobbs v Jackson Women’s Health Organization case will be heard in the court throughout the coming months, as millions of Americans on both sides await a decision.
