On Wednesday, the American Civil Liberties Union called on the Biden Administration to shut down 39 ICE facilities throughout the nation, including one in San Diego: Otay Mesa Detention Center.
The ACLU’s name would imply that they are supposed to deal with the civil liberties of Americans, not illegal aliens. By calling for this extreme idea to shut down ICE facilities, they are demonstrating that their priority is not the American people.
In a letter to Alejandro Mayorkas, the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, the ACLU claimed that there have allegedly been documentations of abuse, misconduct, and mistreatment at the Otay Mesa Center.
Despite these claims, neither the President nor the Vice President, who is supposed to be in charge of handling the border crisis, have gone down to visit the border or even acknowledge the situation as a crisis.
The ACLU’s call for shutdowns is a ridiculous request made by an organization that is ironically supposed to help and protect American civil liberties but is instead choosing to focus on illegal immigrants.
