The race for a seat in the House of Representatives between Democrat Rita Hart and Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks came down to just six votes that favored the Republican candidate. Iowa Democrat Rita Hart has since challenged the results, with her legal team claiming that 22 ballots were wrongfully thrown out that would have given her the victory.
The race between the two was certified by the Iowa State Board of Canvassers with bipartisan support following a full recount. However, Democrats have claimed ballots were wrongfully thrown out for issues that were outside the control of the voters, such as improper sealing of ballots. The Federal Contested Elections Act allows the House Administration Committee to review questioned House elections.
Defeated candidates in the past have petitioned for the House to review their election, but since 1993, 107 campaigns out of 110 were rejected. Nancy Pelosi currently holds a slim 219-211 majority in the House, tempting her and other House Democrats to do whatever they can to remain in control.
Democrat Representative Dean Philips of Minnesota tweeted “Losing a House election by six votes is painful for Democrats. But overturning it in the House would be even more painful for America. Just because a majority can, does not mean a majority should.”

On January 6th, 139 House Republicans voted to object the state-certified presidential election results in Arizona and Pennsylvania. Former President Donald Trump along with many other Republicans faced major backlash from Democrats for questioning the election’s integrity. They were accused of “being sore losers” and “trying to cheat” when they objected to the results of the election.
Some of those same Democrats are now thrilled to have an opportunity to overturn a certified election result, just months after brutally harassing Republicans who wanted the same. There is a blatant double standard with the current Democratic party and their hypocrisy is on full display. Americans should not stand for this. It is obvious that Democrats do not have the best interest of Americans in mind, but just their desire to remain in control by any means necessary.
