Update: Fox News has confirmed that CBP is in fact releasing asylum claiming migrants into the US with no date to appear in court for an asylum hearing. This is unprecedented in U.S. history, but the Biden Administration maintains that there is no crisis at the border.
Fox News has reported that Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has a plan under consideration for Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley Sector (RGV) to begin releasing illegal border crossers who claim asylum without a Notice to Appear.
This means that illegal border crossers would be granted entry into the U.S., consequence free, without even so much as a date to appear in court. The move would be completely unprecedented and for the first time in modern history, migrants would be responsible for scheduling their own court hearing to plead for asylum.
The U.S. already has a massive problem with illegal immigration. There is an estimated 11 million individuals living in the country illegally. This plan would drastically worsen the already immense problem that the country faces.
The reason for the possible new approach, according to Fox News’ source, is that the situation at the border has gotten so bad, there is no place to hold the migrants, even just for enough time to assign them a court date.
“[It has] become so dire that BP [Border Patrol] has no choice but to release people nearly immediately after apprehension because there is no space to hold people even to do necessary NTA paperwork,” said the unnamed source.
The situation at the border is the worst we’ve seen in years. The RGV in Texas is more than 700% over capacity, and HHS is working on opening a new facility in Pecos, Texas, to help deal with the the massive number of migrants; which includes a large number of unaccompanied minors.
“While ORR has worked to build up its licensed bed capacity to almost 13,500 beds, additional capacity is urgently needed to manage both enhanced COVID-19 mitigation strategies and the increasing numbers of UC referrals from DHS,” an ORR spokesperson said.
Joe Biden’s rhetoric and policy changes have sent the message to migrants that now is the time to come to the US. As thousands upon thousands of migrants arrive at the border each day, Joe Biden refuses to admit that he has caused a problem and is instead allowing the saftey and security of the US to be put at risk.
Just this week, a Texas police officer shot and killed an illegal immigrant who had 11 felony counts, including for the rape of multiple children, after the man pulled a gun during a traffic strop. How many more innocent American’s have to have their lives turned upside down before Joe Biden will rectify the situation at the border?
