Recall Newsom Campaign Going Strong in South Bay

Written by Cheryl Perez

Democrat heavy South Bay, Spring Valley, and Rancho San Diego have been proving to be a rich signature-gathering area for the Recall Newsom Campaign. Spring Valley residents Cindy and Charlotte have been circulating petitions throughout the Rancho San Diego area every week since Thanksgiving. So far, they estimate they have collected more than 1,000 signatures. I spent some time with Cindy and Charlotte at 3 sites this week, and during our events we collected 55 signatures in Rancho San Diego, 85 signatures in Imperial Beach, and 70 signatures in Spring Valley. There was always a steady stream of people coming by to sign, pick up blank petitions, or just to have conversations with like-minded people. There were also plenty of honks of support and thumbs-up from passing cars along with comments of “I have already signed it”. Shout-outs from Carl DeMaio on his radio show always gave us a boost.

We are in the last weeks of the signature-gathering process and we need to have thousands of overage signatures to ensure success. If you have not yet tried signature gathering, it is as easy as downloading a petition at RecallGavin2020.com (make sure to follow all the instructions, or signatures may be deemed invalid) and walking your neighbor or a busy parking lot.
