We were warned of increased fire risk for San Diego County this week, and unfortunately, we are seeing the effects of that today.
Cal Fire San Diego reports a vegetation fire is currently burning in Alpine.
It was reported around 1 pm near Japatul Valley Road and Red Hawk Ridge. At the time of reporting it was about 1 acre and growing at a moderate speed. As of 2 pm the fire had grown to 10 acres.
NBC San Diego, from their helicopter, reported that multiple fire trucks were seen on the ground and helicopters are dousing the area from above.
Cal Fire and Clevland National Forest officials are working together to fight the blaze.
No further updates are available at this time.
