Governor Newsom’s Child Potentially Exposed to COVID-19 at School

Governor Gavin Newsom’s child may have been exposed to the Coronavirus this week at school. The child, whose name has not been released, will remain in quarantine for 14 days, but the rest of the family will not because they were not directly exposed. Last month, his children went back to their private schools in Sacramento even though the governor has expressed how dangerous it is for students to go back to school, citing the higher risk of catching the COVID-19. The school his children attend will move to remote learning following Thanksgiving Break.

Newsom has been very hypocritical lately regarding his own COVID guidelines. Most recently, he was caught at French Laundry, an extremely expensive restaurant north of San Francisco. He called the decision, “a bad mistake,” and described the dinner as outdoors. Photo’s later surfaced showing the governor was actually indoors, maskless, and not social distancing.

After speedily recovering from COVID-19, President Trump tweeted, in part, “Don’t be afraid of Covid. Don’t let it dominate your life.” When Newsom was asked if he agreed with this messaging, he did not, but said it ‘doesn’t surprise him’ and proceeded to fear monger about the virus. If Newsom’s latest actions prove anything, though, it is that all his preaching about the dangers of COVID-19 was just for show. After all, if he was truly worried he wouldn’t have been lavishly dining out with a large group and he wouldn’t have sent his children back to school.

Anyone being exposed to coronavirus is unfortunate and we wish only the best for Newsom’s child and the rest of his family. With that being said, the Governor either needs to stick to his word or stop expecting the rest of us to adhere to his coronavirus restrictions.
