The Wounded Veterans Recreation Act has passed the U.S House and Senate. It is now headed to President Trump’s desk, where he is expected to sign it into law. The bill has received bipartisan support and was proposed by Maine Republican Sen. Susan Collins, New Hampshire Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen and California Democrat Rep. Raul Ruiz.
The act would change the 2004 Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act so that disabled veterans would be granted a free lifetime pass to all US national parks. Senator Collins said the new legislation, “will ensure that disabled veterans can continue to access our country’s national treasures for outdoor recreation, which can help heal both the visible and invisible wounds of war.”
