Candidate Profile: John Santhoff for Palomar Community College Board

Written by Nicholas Vetrisek

John Santhoff is the Republican Party of San Diego County’s endorsed candidate for Palomar Community College Board Area 4.

He is a successful entrepreneur and Air Force veteran. He is the CEO of Orion Cable Systems, a TV and internet provider for North County, and was named “Innovator of the Year” by Electronic Engineering Times.

One of John’s priorities is STEM and technical education. Jobs in these fields have the best return on investment for students and will ensure that Palomar College graduates have skills that are valuable in the job market. He also wants to work with local job creators to design programs based on the most in-demand skills.

Another initiative for Santhoff is creating better opportunities for rural families. None of the current members of the Palomar Community College Board are members of rural or unincorporated areas, and as a result, very little thought is given to these students. Santhoff knows the issues that these communities face and he wants to ensure that all Palomar students have access to a quality education.

John Santhoff will prioritize STEM education while allowing students in unincorporated communities a better chance at a quality education, both of which have hardly been considered by current board members.
