President Trump and First Lady Melania Test Positive for Coronavirus

President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump have tested positive for the coronavirus. The shocking news was revealed in a tweet by the president Thursday night.

Melania tweeted as well, saying, “As too many Americans have done this year, @potus & I are quarantining at home after testing positive for COVID-19. We are feeling good & I have postponed all upcoming engagements. Please be sure you are staying safe & we will all get through this together.”

The positive test results comes just hours after it was revealed that White House senior aide Hope Hicks was experiencing symptoms of COVID and tested positive for the virus. She is currently in Washington D.C. recovering and quarantining.

Hicks is in frequent close contact with the president and travels regularly with him on Air Force One. She was also with President Trump at a campaign event in Minnesota on Wednesday and flew back to the White House with him on the Marine One helicopter after the rally.

Trump had an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity early Thursday, where he said his test results were still pending.

“I just went for a test and we’ll see what happens…Whether we quarantine or whether we have it, I don’t know.”

Following the announcement, many conservative personalities and supporters of the president offered their prayers and wished for a quick recovery.

President Trump’s positive test calls into question whether we will see another presidential debate. The next debate was scheduled for October 15, just two weeks from today, and the final one is scheduled for October 22.

Politics aside, the leader of the free world and his wife being diagnosed with COVID is a tragedy for the entire country. We here at San Diego News Desk are wishing President Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, and Hope Hicks a speedy recovery and all the best during this troubling time.
