Regional Chamber of Commerce and County Assessors Hosting Friday Webinar to Assist Local Business Owners

This Friday, the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce is joining San Diego County Assessors for a webinar to help San Diego businesses impacted by the upcoming May 7 filing deadline for business property statements that could affect over 60,000 businesses. The goal of the webinar is to help businesses avoid the 10% tax penalty as a result of the state mandated deadline. 

Though the County Assessors have asked Governor Gavin Newsom to delay the deadline, their request was denied. The Office of the County Assessor is reaching out to provide assistance to business owners to help avoid the penalties and ensure taxpayers are assisted and have essential resources during the coronavirus pandemic.

San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Jerry Sanders will be talking with three representatives from The Office of the County Assessor: Ernie Dronenburg, Omar Castellanos, and Jordan Marks.

Topics that will be discussed include:

  • Overview of the 571-L Business Property Statement form
  • E-File options
  • Assistance meeting the May 7 State of CA filing deadline with COVID-19
  • Tax saving tips
  • Ask questions to your County property tax experts
  • Avoiding penalties and late fees

Those who are most encourages to attend include:

  • Business owners requested by the Assessor to file the Business Property Statement (571-L)
  • Business owners with property valued over $100,000 in fixtures, supplies, furniture and equipment.
  • Tax professionals filing on behalf of their clients
