Two more drive-thru COVID-19 testing facilities have officially opened in San Diego, bringing the number of public testing sites in the county up to three.
The existing site is at the San Diego County Credit Union Stadium in Mission Valley, with the new locations at North Inland Live Well Center in Escondido and the Public Health Center in Chula Vista.
Currently, they are only available for those with a referral from a doctor or hospital. An appointment is also necessary, which can be made though the Nurse Triage Team by calling 211. The centers give nasal tests and results usually take 24-48 hours.
These centers are critical because they provide testing for those whose insurance providers do not have COVID-19 tests available or those who don’t have health insurance at all. With county officials pushing for the reopening of businesses and the economy, convenient and efficient testing sites are a must.
The South Bay location is open Monday through Friday from 1 PM – 7 PM at Live Well Center at Chula Vista, 690 Oxford Street, Chula Vista, Ca 91911.
The North County location is open Monday through Friday from 10 AM – 3 PM at North Inland Live Well Escondido Center, 649 W. Mission Ave., Escondido, CA 92025.
