Chula Vista Christian University Officially Opening in the Fall

A new university is set to open at home in San Diego this fall. Chula Vista Christian University is coming to Eastlake, bringing flexible, debt-free, faith-based education to the city. CVCU’s unique approach to education is a much-needed option for students in the ever-mounting complexity of the college process.

Their educational model is tailored to the learning styles of the next generation, staying centered around academic mentorship and small group discussion-based learning. CVCU students are supplemented with opportunities such as internships and marketplace experience to help them become competitive in the professional world.

In light of the nation’s shortage of STEAM-trained professionals, CVCU is offering degrees in the hard sciences, social sciences, political sciences, technology, engineering, and mathematics, while emphasizing the importance of a well-rounded education through liberal arts, career/technical education training, and visual-performing arts degrees. Students will be encouraged to take their learning outside of the school through academic support, cutting-edge research projects, and artistic excellence, all in a faith-based model.

“Chula Vista Christian University is an academic experience where rigor meets relationship,” said CVCU President Dr. Lisa Dunne. “Instead of listening passively to lecture-based models of education, our students discover, learn, and practice their craft through internships and meaningful discussions with professors who care about the whole student—mind, body, and spirit.”

CVCU hopes to empower students to achieve their educational dreams without the burden of student loan debt. They offer debt-free higher education in a student-driven, tutorial modality that is proven to increase retention and graduation rates. This is a great step to counter the staggering 50% dropout rate in California and the nation’s $1.5 trillion of student loan debt.

“After 20 years as a college professor, I recognized that our nation’s higher education system is inherently broken. America desperately needs education reform, and CVCU is our local contribution to that national challenge,” Dunne added.

CVCU is now accepting applications for the fall 2020 semester. Prospective students can text the word “apply” to 52855 for an application, or learn more about their programs at cvcu.us. For more information, contact Karla Rivera at (619) 913-8462 or krivera@cvcu.us.
