San Diego City Councilman Chris Cate Endorses Joe Leventhal for City Council

Cites Leventhal’s support of government reform, street repair, and public safety

(San Diego, CA) – District 6 City Councilman Chris Cate today announced his endorsement of Joe Leventhal for City Council District 5.

“Joe is exactly the kind of leader we need on the City Council,” said Cate. “He’s an extremely hard worker who will be a bold voice for government reform and a champion for street repair and public safety. I look forward to working with Joe to make additional progress on these important issues.”

Chris Cate was first elected to serve District 6 in 2014. Throughout his service on the City Council, Chris has been lauded for his solution-oriented approach to public safety, economic development, and the environment. As the Vice Chair of the Budget and Government Efficiency Committee, Chris works to ensure that San Diego remains fiscally secure.

“I am proud to accept an endorsement from Councilman Cate,” said Leventhal. “I am eager to work with Chris and the rest of the City Council to improve the quality of life for all San Diegans.”

Joe has already been endorsed by San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer, San Diego City Councilman Mark Kersey, retired San Diego Police Chief Shelley Zimmerman, homeless advocate Father Joe Carroll, San Diego County Board of Education Vice President Mark Powell, San Diego County Supervisor Jim Desmond, San Diego County Supervisor Dianne Jacob, San Diego City Councilman Scott Sherman, the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, and the Associated Builders and Contractors of San Diego, among others.

Once elected to the San Diego City Council, Joe will prioritize solutions to reduce homelessness, enhance public safety, and expand road repairs. Joe believes that bold, collaborative leadership, as he’s demonstrated throughout his life, is the best way to approach San Diego’s persistent challenges.

The 5th District includes the communities of Black Mountain Ranch, Carmel Mountain Ranch, Miramar Ranch North, Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Encantada, Rancho Peñasquitos, Sabre Springs, San Pasqual, Scripps Miramar Ranch and Torrey Highlands. The District’s registration is nearly evenly split between Republicans, Independents, and Democrats.
