Surrounded by hypocrisy and blatant disregard for her constituents, Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez has once again continued her pattern of only listening to her union lobbyists and prohibiting any real progress for workers.
Assemblywoman Gonzalez pretends to be in support of workers, but in reality, she could not be more against them. She has continually partnered with unions who deliberately oppose the privileges and rights bestowed upon workers. For example, with regard to farmers, Gonzalez has allied with the United Farm Workers—a union now dedicated to stripping away money from its members.
Furthermore, in a union election, Gonzalez intentionally refused to count votes (for five years!) from farmers that she knew would result in the disbandment of one her union allies. So, not only does the Assemblywoman completely ignore her constituents but she is willing to come close to election tampering to further her political agendas.
As a form of retaliation from the election, Gonzalez essentially forced the farmers to be a part of the union. In order to do so, she rejected any legislation that hinted at any form of protection and/or benefits for farmers. Her behavior implies that she finds it acceptable to infringe upon a fundamental right given to workers: the freedom of association.
She has displayed repulsive behavior time and time again, against journalists, constituents, farmers, and her colleagues. Each day Gonzalez sits in the State Assembly as a representative of San Diego is an embarrassment.

As an Assemblywoman, her action against workers and in defense of Big Labor is abysmal given that they are her constituents and she is purposely ignoring their needs and wants in favor of the union lobbyists that finance her campaigns.
Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez is full of bias and solely operating on the basis of power politics. Her main interests are exclusively those of union lobbyists. Her constituents have lost all value to her and she is willing to put their rights at stake if told to do so.
She has become a puppet to the lobbyists and has completely neglected her responsibility as a state representative. Gonzalez is the epitome of a slimy, disingenuous politician and the citizens of San Diego deserve better.
