Oceanside, CA – The Gunderson for Congress campaign today released an internal poll showing the CA-49 general election race against far-left Congressman Mike Levin in a dead heat.
The poll conducted by 1892 reveals a highly competitive contest between incumbent Democrat Mike Levin and Republican challenger Matt Gunderson, with Gunderson trailing by just 2% with over six months until Election Day. Notably, Gunderson leads when voters have heard of both candidates, signaling a favorable environment for his campaign.
Since 2020, when Joe Biden carried CA-49 by 11%, voters have soured on the President — he now sits at 39% favorable versus 56% unfavorable. The polling data also shows 69% of voters believe America is on the wrong track while the border and inflation are the top two issues in the district – both strengths for Gunderson.
With a winning environment for Gunderson evident among voters and the businessman’s strong performance among swing voters, it is clear CA-49 is primed to flip in November.
