SACRAMENTO – Today, Assembly Democrats took bold action to address one of the most pressing issues facing California.
We’re talking, of course, about the scourge of paper receipts.
With today’s landmark vote, California is one step closer to a better future where consumers will not be menaced by the prospect of taking three seconds to throw away an unwanted receipt.
Finally, businesses will no longer be allowed to automatically hand over proof of purchase to their customers, and when confronted, shoplifters can simply declare no receipt was offered and be on their way.
Turning to other issues, homelessness continues to rise, California’s unemployment rate is the second highest of any state, violent crime has spiked and we have the most expensive gas in the nation. Democrats will get around to tackling those issues one of these days.
