Washington, DC – Congressman Darrell Issa (CA-48) today issued the following statement following the passage of H.R. 2: The Secure the Border Act.
“On his very first day in office, Joe Biden opened the nation’s borders and sent an unmistakable message to the world that America’s immigration laws would no longer be enforced. As a result, five million illegals have now crossed our border, there is an unprecedented rise in child and human trafficking, and we are enduring the deadliest drug crisis in our history.
“Biden has also betrayed our border agents by not letting them do their jobs. He wants them to be Uber drivers for illegal immigrants, taking them where they want to go.
“Republicans rose to the occasion today by passing the Secure the Border Act, which will hire new Border Patrol agents, enhance border enforcement technology, resume construction on border infrastructure, and end the Biden policy of catch and release. It should become the law of the land.”
