Project Recover film, memorial, and beer honoring MIA service members who gave their lives

San Diego (May 3rd, 2023)Project Recover is an organization dedicated to bringing home Americans still missing in action from our previous wars. May is Military Appreciation Month, which ends with Memorial Day, always the last Monday of May. We are happy to share a few events where the community can learn more about and support a critical mission.

GI Film Festival – The documentary, To What Remains will be screened on Thursday, May 16th, at 7:30 at the Museum of Photographic Arts. In breathtaking imagery filmed over several years and intimate interviews with Project Recover team members and MIA families, To What Remains takes viewers inside this emotional journey to honor our fallen servicemen, from the discovery of wreckage on the seafloor in the South Pacific to the living room of a stunned family in middle America to a well-deserved final resting place at home. Project Recover Co-Founder, Dr. Patrick Scannon, and CFO, Dan O’Brien will be on a panel for a post-show Q&A.

Mt. Soledad National Veterans Memorial  – The annual Memorial Day ceremony on Monday, May 29th, at 11am will honor Walter “Uncle Bert” Mintus, an MIA service member from WWII that was brought home in 2018. Project Recover located Uncle Bert’s Avenger in Palau in 2016. Project Recover Co-Founder and Founder of The Bent Prop Project, Dr. Patrick Scannon, will be a special guest speaker.

Protector Brewing – IPAs for MIAsProtector Brewing is joining the mission to keep America’s Promise in honor of the Memorial Day holiday. On Monday, May 29th, stop by for a pint to support a mission that honors and remembers our fallen service members through the action of searching for, locating, and recovering their remains so that they can be brought home. Say hello to one of several Project Recover team members who will be in attendance in the early afternoon.
