Supervisor Nathan Fletcher’s Deplorable Behavior: A Disgraceful Attempt to Control the Narrative Like a Politician
San Diego Supervisor Nathan Fletcher has recently made headlines for seeking treatment for post-traumatic stress, trauma, and alcohol abuse, and for deciding to end his campaign for State Senate to focus on his health and family. While this news may garner sympathy from some, it’s important to take a closer look at the situation.
It has come to light that Fletcher has a history of deplorable behavior, including drinking too much and cheating on his wife – something he has done in two marriages. He has blamed his post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) for his actions, but it’s clear that his low moral standard is the root of the problem. By using PTSD as an excuse, he is not only minimizing the real struggles of veterans and victims of trauma but also taking away resources from those who genuinely need them.
The Supervisor has tried to control the narrative like a politician by releasing information in pieces. He should have come forward with everything all together, as a true victim would, rather than using his service as a way to gain sympathy. By doing so, he has made it harder for actual victims and veterans to seek the resources they need.
Additionally, Fletcher’s attorney has recently released a statement in response to allegations being made against him by a former MTS employee. He has also tried to discredit his victim by telling others not to listen to her, while simultaneously positioning himself as a victim. Such behavior is unacceptable, and Fletcher must be held accountable for his actions. While it’s not clear what the outcome of these allegations will be, it’s troubling that they have been brought forward at the same time as Fletcher’s admission of past infidelity all after claiming to be a victim.
It’s important to hold our elected officials accountable for their actions, especially when they involve a pattern of behavior that goes against the values they are supposed to represent. It’s understandable to sympathize with Fletcher’s struggles, but that should not excuse his dishonorable actions.
