San Diego County Residents: Tax Extension

Tax season has been delayed! All San Diego County residents have more time to file their taxes thanks to recent measures announced by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the California Franchise Tax Board (FTB).

According to the IRS, taxpayers affected by the severe winter storms in California who reside or have a business in a declared disaster area are now eligible for a temporary tax relief until October 16, 2023 to file their federal taxes.

In response to a request from California Senate Republicans, the FTB has also extended the same tax relief to state income tax filers in the affected areas.

Under both the IRS and FTB tax extensions, San Diego County qualifies as a disaster area and all residents are eligible for the October 16, 2023 tax extension.

If you have been affected by the winter storms or need assistance working with the FTB or the IRS, my office is here to help. You can send me an email here.

It’s an honor to serve as your State Senator.

Sincerely,

Senate Minority Leader Brian W. Jones
