Advocates for a government takeover of California’s health care system are back again, kicking off a two-year effort to abolish private insurance.
As a reminder, any single-payer health care system would:
- Raid seniors’ Medicare funds to give benefits to people who never paid into the system.
- Kick every Californian off their existing insurance plan, no matter how much they like it.
- Impose the largest state tax increase in history.
- Put a government agency like the DMV in charge of the state’s health care system.
- Hurt patients with long wait times, rationing and lower quality care.
- Threaten rural hospitals that are already struggling to remain open.
Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher statement: “Californians deserve quality health care. A government-run system would give them the opposite. Assembly Democrats will have to choose between destroying our state’s health care system and alienating their supporters in the radical left.”
