PRESS RELEASE: NOT AN ENDORSEMENT FROM THE REPUBLICAN PARTY OF SAN DIEGO COUNTY
The California Republican Party is in distress and needs full participation from its voting members. That’s why Rob Bernosky, a candidate for Chairman of the California Republican Party, is advocating to end the use of proxies by delegates.
“Being a delegate is a privilege and means one is an active member of the California Republican Party, which includes going to conventions. That is the only place and time delegates exercise their duties,” said Bernosky.
Requiring voting members to show up increases the number of people participating, increases the party’s buy at hotel properties, and potentially decreases the cost per each participant. This will create a more enjoyable experience for all as they work to make themselves heard and relevant in California.
Not allowing proxies is consistent with how we choose to be governed – one person, one vote. Speaker Kevin McCarthy ended former Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s practice of allowing members of Congress to vote by proxy. “If you want the job, you have to show up,” said Bernosky.
“My goals for the California Republican Party include unelecting progressive liberals and getting our values and principles represented in Sacramento. These goals can only be achieved if all of the players are playing and headed in the same direction. Having an outsized number of players on the inactive list won’t give us a chance to win,” said Bernosky.
