Newsom’s Mysterious COVID-19 Case: Governor Tests Positive For COVID

Written by T. Logan Dayne

In an extremely shocking development, California Governor Gavin Newsom was brought down by COVID-19 less than 2 weeks after receiving his third COVID-19 shot. Newsom has been successful at avoiding COVID-19 for some time now, including hiding from the virus during the height of the pandemic at the French Laundry, which was too expensive for the virus to attend. Newsom received his second booster (his third shot) on May 18th but it didn’t take long for him to call out sick by May 28th.

Cases like this are surprising considering many Americans were promised by their leaders that if they get the vaccine they wouldn’t get COVID, a promise echoed by the President of the United States himself. The phrase “Highly Effective” was a common phrase uttered by nearly every leader. Even more surprising in this case is how quickly Newsom came down with COVID, testing positive only 10 days after his booster. Despite contracting the virus, he says that he is, “Grateful to be vaccinated,” parroting others who have received multiple boosters in just under 2 years and still contracted the disease. He will receive a regime of Paxlovid, an antiviral and will remain in isolation until he tests negative. Newsom tested positive only a day after meeting with New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern as the two discussed climate policy and a climate change partnership. Ardern is one of the most extreme pro-lockdown leaders and also tested positive for COVID in early May.

However, Californians can be assured this will not prevent him from moving forward with his duties of pushing more regulation and taxes on its citizens, as he will simply be working remotely. No one knows how he contracted the virus.
