Democrat lead states used billions in taxpayer dollars from President Biden’s COVID-19 Relief package to push Critical Race Theory (CRT) in public schools. The package, the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act, was passed in March 2021 and was pushed as a solution that would allow schools to reopen all around the nation. Part of the law gave over $122 billion to the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER). That fund allowed multiple states to fund training on “implicit bias” and “anti-racism”. The American Rescue Plan Act cost a total of $1.9 trillion dollars.
The White House said that the ESSER would provide schools, “with the resources they need to safely reopen and fully serve their students.” Some such as Democrat Senator from Georgia Raphael Warnock said that it was a matter of life or death when it came to the passage of this bill. However, rather than the money going towards programs that would help schools reopen and pay teachers and staff, the money went towards funding far-left programs that pushed CRT and race-based education, and California was one of those states.
The California Department of Education received $15.1 billion in ARP funding, $1.5 billion went to training resources for staff to teach “implict bias training”. Implicit bias is defined by Merriam-Webster as “ a bias or prejudice that is present but not consciously held or recognized”. The state also used funds to push “anti-bias strategies”, “environmental literacy”, “ethnic studies”, and “LGBTQ+ cultural competency”.
Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona said he was “excited” to approve California’s plan. Cardona also said that the plan laid the “groundwork for the ways in which an unprecedented infusion of federal resources will be used to address the urgent needs of America’s children and build back better.”
This shows once again that the Democrats policy of throwing money at the problem doesn’t solve anything. All it does is aid their agenda and the bureaucrats who force that agenda.
