It would have been hard to predict just a decade ago, that Democrats unironically don’t know what distinguishes a man from a woman. However, what was once fringe gender theory only being discussed amongst radical academics has now become public policy in San Diego County.
At Monday’s San Diego County Board of Supervisors meeting, the supervisors held a public hearing on Agenda Item 34, and ended up voting in favor of the item 3-2. Agenda Item 34 was defined as “an ordinance to provide for the local implementation of the United Nations Convention on the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women (CEDAW).” Sounds reasonable at first, but Item 34 actually enables biological men to legally identify as women.
The ordinance was passed along partisan lines, with Democrats Nathan Fletcher, Nora Vargas, and Terra Lawson-Remer voting in favor of Item 34. Republicans Jim Desmond and Joel Anderson voted against the ordinance.
The board clearly doesn’t represent public sentiment on this issue, as 437 people spoke against the ordinance in the public hearing, while only 40 spoke in favor of it. Despite San Diegans concerns that women can easily be degraded if men can simply identify as one, the Democrat-controlled board approved the ordinance.
District 5 Supervisor Jim Desmond tweeted that “Today’s action opens the door to biological men who identify as women to compete in women’s sports, compete for women’s scholarships, and for unique opportunities that only apply to women. Thereby, taking opportunities from biological women. That in itself is discriminatory.”
On the brightside, Democrats are shooting themselves in the foot by embracing these illogical and plainly ridiculous culture war positions. San Diego conservatives and patriots should continue calling out Democrats for their destructive agenda as they did on Monday’s public hearing.
