California Congressman Mike Levin has gone to his social media to show off his expensive electric vehicles all while complaining about high gas prices.
Levin has posted to his Twitter multiple times about his purchases of luxury electric vehicles such as his Chevy Volt and Honda Clarity Fuel Cell which have a combined retail price of around $100,000. The fact that Levin is promoting these vehicles shows that he is out of touch with the vast majority of the country as most working-class Americans can only hope to one-day own vehicles of that value. Last November, the Congressman posted to Instagram bragging about a test drive that he got in an $80,000 Rivian pickup truck which is an even bigger slap in the face to Americans who rely on trucks for their work that are hit the hardest by the high gas prices. I’m sure that every construction worker and electrician that drives a pickup for work would love a new high-tech electric truck but asking them to pay that kind of money is just ridiculous.
Levin wrote in an op-ed for the Times of San Diego, “There’s no question we’re all feeling pain from high gas prices. The average price of regular gas in California is now around $6.00 per gallon”. But it feels insincere as he has made it clear that he drives electric vehicles. Even though the United States has a plentiful oil supply, Levin has proceeded to blame COVID-19 and Vladimir Putin for the high prices.
